In the medical area, Glycerine is used in tablets or as an infusion to treat edema. Glycerine is also used as a gargle, cough medicine, anesthetic, and an additive in antibiotics/antiseptics. It is served as an emollient and humectant in foodstuffs and as a solvent for flavors and food colorings in beverages.
