Palmitic Acid is the most common saturated fatty acid found in animals, plants. Palmitic Acid and it's sodium salt sodium palmitate are both produced from palm oil. They find use in foods, cosmetics, lubricants and industrial applications. Hydrogenation of palmitic acid yields cetyl alcohol, which is used to produce detergents and cosmetics.
